Simple Electrolyte Lemonade
It’s May and we are already feeling the summer heat return. Water is not enough to stay hydrated as we lose important minerals when we sweat. You can rehydrate yourself and replenish your electrolytes with this easy and delicious lemonade.
Ingredients
- 1 ½-2 cups water
- ½ lemon juiced
- 1/8 – 1/4 tsp Himalayan salt
- 2 tsp honey (raw local honey is best* or use sweetener of choice)
Instructions:
- Warm water in pot then add salt.
- When warm the mixture, only warm water enough for salt and honey to easily dissolve. Do not simmer or boil as this destroys some of the healing properties of lemon and honey in the drink.
- Remove from heat then add honey and lemon juice.
- Mix until honey is dissolved.
- Cool in fridge or add ice to drink right away.
- Store in the fridge up to a week.
- Optionally, you can add slices of lemon for additional benefits from the lemon peel.
*Do not give raw honey to infants under two years of age.
